SDN Event vrijdag 23 maart 2018

Johan Smarius

You have heard some stories from other people using Docker containers. You have however not found the time to start experimenting with them. In this session, you will get that opportunity. Together we will start building one or more containers for deployment and build. You will also learn how you can use databases with your container. Of course, we will also deploy our containers to the cloud. The presenter will be present all day so if you could not finish the labs in the given timeslot you can always finish them during the breaks and ask questions if necessary.

René van Osnabrugge

Containers are for real. On Linux they are the new normal and on Windows they are becoming more popular. But where Linux is great with command line installers and command line Package Managers, Windows is lacking behind. Or not? Chocolatey and OneGet are the package managers for Windows and they are pretty powerful. You can install ready-to-go packages from the internet or create your own when they are not there. In this session I will talk about Package Management for Windows Containers in General and about Chocolatey in detail. I will show you how to use the power of Chocolatey in your containers, how to set it up in your pipeline and VSTS account and will show you how to create your own Chocolatey packages. Sweet!

Kees Verhaar

In this session, I’ll walk you through the entire process of creating an extension for the VSTS web interface. Starting with an empty directory, and going over all the nitty-gritty details, we’ll end up with a simple, working extension which is automatically deployed to the Visual Studio Marketplace. I’ll go over the required tools, frameworks and CI/CD pipeline setup. This should get you kick-started creating some awesome VSTS extensions!

Bert Ertman

This talk explores Serverless, its impact on existing architectures, and assesses it’s usability for Mobile Back-ends as a Service (MBaaS), Functions-as-a-Service (FaaS) and also for Microservices based architectures hosted in the cloud. Internet connectivity permitting, there will be demos too.
Bert Ertman

23-3-2018 15:30-16:30
Cyle Riggs

I will build and demonstrate a working serverless platform, without using any existing serverless framework, live on stage. In implementing FaaS I will demonstrate the core components, features, and challenges of architecting and using various serverless platforms.
Cyle Riggs

Barry Luijbregts

There are many, many services in Azure, but how do you pick the right ones for your application? How do you make sense of all the options? It’s overwhelming! This session answers the question that everybody wants an answer to: What should I use for my scenario?
Barry Luijbregts

23-3-2018 11:15-12:15
Why should I care about serverless solutions with Azure Functions
Jan de Vries

Have you heard about microservices? Do you think this is cool? Wait till you get to know nanoservices with Azure Functions. Now that’s cool! Come join this session and let me introduce you to this new piece of technology!

Industrial IoT with Azure IoT Hub
Eldert Grootenboer

Use Azure IoT Hub with Dynamics 365 to build compelling solutions, easily managing and communicating with our devices. Visualize readings and trigger processes from our data.

Wouter de Kort

Shipping fast has never been so important. But shipping your database changes in an automated and secure way is still the bottleneck of many projects. This sessions shows how you can use Visual Studio and SQL Server to continuously deploy your database and make sure your architecture supports this.

I deploy on Fridays (and maybe you should too)
Michiel Rook

Have you ever heard someone say “Don’t deploy on Friday”? I used to say that too! Learn about build pipelines, automated testing, continuous deployment and monitoring. Discover trunk based development, pair programming and best practices, and gain the confidence to deploy any day of the week!
Michiel Rook

"When you combine services in Azure you can create a lot of awesome solutions. Logic Apps, Azure Automation and Azure Service Bus are the main topics in this session. This talk gives you a real life scenario about keeping a solution in control that you’ve build."
Michiel Hamers

Karina Popova

During last year we realized that Artificial Intelligence is functionally necessary to bring the number of sensor devices online. It definitely will be more important in making sense of data streamed in from IoT devices. What will happen when we will learn how to combine AI, IoT and general tools?

23-3-2018 13:00-14:00
Peter Rombouts

In this session I will show how to train and use the Face API for recognition of people. Secondly I will show an example of how to determine emotions using the APIs. After this session attendees will have a basic understanding of setting up the APIs, and know how to use and implement the Face and Emotion APIs on the Cognitive Services Stack.
Peter Rombouts

Bert Bierman

Of eigenlijk presenteren zij zichzelf.

Skynet activated - Building Smarter Apps with Cognitive Services and Xamarin
Gerald Versluis

In this session we will look at how we can integrate the Microsoft Cognitive services like the Emotion API and Computer Vision API into an app. It has a wink to the Terminator series to draw attention and hint at smarter apps that will take us over.
Gerald Versluis

Zaal 4 (Delphi)

23-3-2018 10:00-11:00
Filip Lagrou

We all have that old program we wrote 10 (or even 20) years ago. Best thing is that all these applications still perform well, and that's why we have to support and maintain them. Drawback is that we often tend to develop like 10 or 20 years ago. In this session I will give you some quick wins to optimize your code, how to avoid pitfalls and present some "tools" of which we know they exist but never used. GOTO this session and see what you can (or cannot) use again...

As of RemObjects SDK 9, a big new feature was "Code-First servers". Introducing Code-First drastically improved the ease with which you can create and maintain or update a server project. In this session I will present the difference between the Service Builder and Code-First, how to convert to a Code-First server and show the speed of developing a new server project.

As a follow up on the introduction of the TMS WEB Core session, in this session we do a hands-on presentation of building simple web UI clients, using HTML templates and using libraries such as bootstrap. In a next step, we present the FNC web enabled UI controls, UI controls that can be used in desktop, mobile native applications as well as web applications now. Finally, we also show how to use jQuery UI controls from TMS WEB Core.
Bruno Fierens
