A few years ago, Microsoft’s Data Access team began showing developers a new direction for ADO.NET, the Entity Framework. This new framework, released in August 2008 as part of Visual Studio 2008 SP1, brings data modeling into the hands of the developers. This version of the Entity Framework is the beginning of a long-term strategy for ADO.NET, and part of a larger data access and modeling strategy for Microsoft’s applications in general.
