Steve Ballmer tijdens TechNet Live

Donderdag 8 oktober werden de deelnemers van het TechNet Live event tijdens de keynote op de hoogte gesteld van de visie die Microsofts CEO Steve Ballmer heeft inzake de direkte toekomst van bedrijven in de huidige economie.

De economie is volgens hem op dit moment in de "new normal" fase en er wordt minder geld uitgegeven, meer gespaard en minder geleend. Een tijd van bezuinigingen dus, maar hoe kan het bedrijfsleven zich hier aan aanpassen?

Volgens Ballmer is het vooral zaak om bewust en verstandig te investeren. Microsoft heeft een aantal produkten gerealiseerd waarmee het mogelijk is hierop in te spelen. The New Efficiency.

De produktpresentatie omvatte onder andere de opvolger van Vista: Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2 en Exchange 2010. Ballmer toonde aan de hand van diverse onderzoeksresultaten dat het mogelijk moet zijn om ondanks de investeringen in deze nieuwe produkten toch te komen tot een effectieve besparing en tegelijkertijd een stuk innovatie toe te passen waardoor uiteindelijk efficienter zal worden gewerkt met een beperkter aantal middelen.

Het TechNet Live event was met name gericht op de IT professional en in een viertal tracks werden de mogelijkheden van de eerder genoemde produkten getoond. Geen developer evenement, maar toch belangrijk om op de hoogte te zijn van de technologische ontwikkelingen, per slot van rekening zal ontwikkelde software toch zijn weg moeten vinden naar de nieuwe infrastructuur.

Voor de developers onder ons hebben we daarom samen met Microsoft een alternatief Windows 7 launch event georganiseerd waarbij de voor de ontwikkelaar belangrijke zaken zullen worden getoond.

Dit evenement wordt gehouden op de eerste avond van de Software Development Conference 2009 en deze avond is los van de SDC conference gratis te bezoeken. Uiteraard kan ook worden gekozen om dit te combineren met de SDC conference om een compleet beeld van de huidige ontwikkelingen op software gebied te krijgen en sessies van verschillende nationale en internationale sprekers te aanschouwen.
