CA-Visual Objects is very good for developing COM components. However, IIS is not always kind to our components. There is a security setting that is not very well defined by Microsoft. It is located in your web site’s properties and specifically, the directory security tab. The setting is called “allow automatic password synchronization”. This setting sounds like it would make your life easier; one less thing to remember. But that is not the case. If you have this box checked, NT does nt set the user network security token. What that means is that regardless of your security credentials for the local machine, you will not be able to creae anything any other machine in the network. Uncheck the box and all is well. This is documented on Microsoft’s web site in a technical bulletin.

The following table is a listing of the DOS error codes. They are listed in the mysterious “Appendix A” that I have never been able to locate:
